Mercedes Benz W123 OM617 EGR Delete Kits. Why?
Many of the Mercedes-Benz W123 sold across the USA were outfitted with components to reduce emissions. The W123 used what is known as an EGR. The EGR has its purpose for reducing emissions but other than that it is uesless. Being that the W123 is smog exempt (in most places) there is no downside to removing it. The EGR system sends hot soot filled exhaust back through the engine, adds complexity to your vacuum system and increases chance of failure.
So what is an EGR delete kit? An EGR delete kit is an aftermarket part assembly that removes a vehicle’s EGR system. EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation and this refers to a mandatory component that is found in most vehicles.
An EGR delete kit removes the EGR system and allows a vehicle’s engine to run at cooler temperatures. This improves performance, makes an engine run cleaner, and last that much longer.
